1. How can I transfer money worldwide from a Western Union Bank Location?
How to send money if you are a Western Union® Gold Card member?
If you are a Gold Card member, you can save valuable time by not having to fill in the “To send money” sheet, as your sending information is already saved in our system.
Show your Western Union® Gold Card and if required, your current government-issued photo ID to the Western Union Bank employee and your transaction will be processed through Western Union’s network computer system.
You will receive a receipt with the 10 digit Money Transfer Control Number (In certain countries the MTCN is required to pick up the money).
Call the receiver and relay the information required to collect the money sent and the MTCN.
The receiver will be able to pick up the money transferred at the local Western Union locations.
How to send money if you are not a Western Union® Gold Card member?
Complete the "To send money" sheet.
Give the Western Union Bank employee the completed sheet, along with the money you wish to send, the sending costs, and if required, your current government-issued photo ID (e.g., Passport).
The Western Union Bank employee will enter the money transfer information and the transaction will be processed through Western Union’s network computer system.
You will receive a receipt with the Money Transfer Control Number (In certain countries the MTCN is required to pick up the money).
Call the receiver and relay the information required to collect the money sent and the MTCN.
The receiver will be able to pick up the money transferred at the local Western Union locations.
2. How can I receive money at a Western Union Bank location?
How to receive money if you are a Gold Card member
Show your Western Union® Gold Card together with a current government-issued photo ID to the Western Union Bank employee. (You may need to know the Money Transfer Control Number, MTCN, for your transaction, as it is required in some countries in order to receive money).
The Western Union Bank employee will hand over the money and the receipt.
How to receive money if you are not a Gold Card member
Complete the “To receive money” form. Indicate the country the money was sent from, the name of the sender, the total amount you are expecting, and the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN), if required to receive payment.
Hand the form over to the Western Union Bank employee together with your current photo ID.
The Western Union Bank employee will hand over the money and the receipt.
3. What do I need to bear in mind?
- Transactions are always paid in cash.
- A current photo ID is required for all transactions (e.g., passport).
- The maximum amount per transaction and per day in Germany is €6,200 (this varies per country).
